UniverCity

Priority One, together with Tauranga City Council and the University of Waikato work collaboratively to grow the city’s reputation as a University City, supporting employers with access to local talent. Our UniverCity project aims to support the University’s intended growth to 5,000 students.

Several initiatives the partners are currently working together on include:

  • The Tauranga Futures Programme – facilitating opportunities to connect local businesses and University students through work experience, research opportunities and internships.

  • Development of the Marine Research and Education Facility at Sulphur Point.

  • Growing and commercialising science and technology capability in the region.

  • Development of student accommodation to accommodate growing student numbers.

The University of Waikato is committed to delivering a world-class education and research portfolio. With around 13,000 students and 1,500 staff, they offer a distinctive and rewarding university experience, while pursuing strong international links to advance knowledge.

The University of Waikato's Tauranga campus is located in the heart of Tauranga's city centre, adding to their current range of qualifications. Choosing to study here combines beautiful beaches, a relaxed lifestyle and world-class university study.
