Kia ora,

Yesterday’s government announcement provides a level of confidence that we are making progress in returning to more familiar times. While Covid continues to negatively impact our wider economy, the increase on gatherings and easing of restrictions/border controls will bring with it a much-needed boost to our hospitality and tourism sector. We are aware of the ongoing staffing issues that are putting a strain on businesses due to isolation requirements and hope these rules will also be reviewed in due course.

The ongoing labour/skill shortage remains an issue for many of our local businesses. The Priority One Future of Work (FoW) project aims to address this by equipping our community with the necessary tools and information to help better prepare for the Future of Work with the resources we have available. We are excited to share with you the inaugural FoW video, featuring Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Grant Robertson, Xero’s Craig Hudson and Futurist Joanne Fair, who share their opinions on what we can be doing now to prepare Tauranga Moana for the future. Watch the video here

As part of the Future of Work project, we have released our new Instep Youth Engagement Guide (IYEG), aimed at addressing the issue of labour and skill shortages by helping guide local businesses to the potential of our youth. Download your free IYEG here
