As mentioned in our last newsletter of 2021, the Instep Young Leaders’ Forum is accepting applications directly from Instep secondary school students in 2022. Check out and share our new video!
If your child (or someone else’s child you know) is in Year 12/13 at either ACG Tauranga, Aquinas College, Bethlehem College, Katikati College, Mt Maunganui College, Otūmoetai College, Pāpāmoa College, Tauranga Boys’ College, Tauranga Girls’ College, Te Puke High School or Te Wharekura o Mauao this year, encourage them to check out this potentially life-changing opportunity. There are 3 places reserved for students from each of the named schools.
Applications open from next Tuesday 1st February – as schools return for Term 1 – and will close on Friday 18th February. The application form will be able to be accessed from this link from the 1st of February.
The Forum is all about empowering our youth to lead, and equipping them with the skills to do so effectively. Along with meaningful engagement opportunities to influence the planning and strategic direction of local authorities, students are inspired by the stories of awesome people who exemplify leadership qualities (including some of our local businesses), are able to network with their peers at other local schools, and collaborate on projects that demonstrate their leadership capability over the year ahead. The doors that get opened along the way offer enormous added value to their schooling.
All it takes to apply is a genuine desire to develop leadership ability. Thanks to Instep’s generous supporters – Baytrust, Bay of Plenty Education Trust, Lion Foundation, TECT and the above-mentioned schools – there’s no cost to participate on the Forum, other than the transport to get to and from the locations of our events.
Be sure to give us the best problem to have – too many quality applications to choose from – and spread the word far and wide!
