Priority One recently launched the Partnering for Nature programme, in partnership with Bay Conservation Alliance. All businesses rely on biodiversity in some degree, and there’s a huge range of conservation projects in need of assistance across Tauranga Moana. The aim of the programme is to make it easy for business to connect with meaningful nature projects, whether it’s by investment, volunteer hours, or a mixture of both.
Ideally, a business finds a project that aligns in some way: it might be with company values, or maybe the work is on nearby land, or it could be driven by staff ideas. The list of Bay Conservation Alliance members is a good place to start when looking for an existing project to support. Another helpful resource are the biodiversity projects listed here, which ensure communities and businesses around the Kaimai Mamaku are protected against weather events and climate change. For guidance on how to start in investment and voluteering, see the Protect Nature Together flyer.
We sat down with Angus Dowson, Customer Advantage Transformation Lead at Ballance-Agri-Nutrients, to learn more about how his business has engaged in conservation work, including how they identified projects and engaged staff, and the benefits Ballance has enjoyed.
We encourage you to fill in our brief Partnering with Nature survey so we can learn how to best support business wanting to do more in this space. Feel free to get in touch with marissa@priorityone.co.nz for more information and advice on how to get involved.
