WorkWell: boosting wellbeing at work

WorkWell is a free initiative that supports workplaces to “work better through wellbeing” The Bay of Plenty is one of many regions benefitting from this National Public Health Service programme.

With support and mentoring from a WorkWell advisor, easy-to-use tools and resources, workshops and networking opportunities, WorkWell is designed to help foster a culture of wellbeing, leading to a happier, healthier and more productive workplace.

WorkWell has a focus on integrating wellbeing into everyday business. There’s evidence to show that prioritising staff wellbeing can yield positive outcomes, including increased energy, motivation and resilience for employees, while also enhancing productivity and reducing absenteeism for employers.

Since joining the programme, Port of Tauranga has experienced notable improvements. “There has been a remarkable positive change in workplace wellbeing,” says Ali Young, WorkWell Lead at the Port. Ali highlights the programme’s ability to unify existing wellbeing initiatives, along with new ones, under one umbrella. “We have the difficulty of being spread across different sites and the WorkWell programme has helped to bring the teams together.”

Trevelyan’s, another local business, has similarly benefited from WorkWell’s approach. “There has been a lot more focused initiatives and events implemented around our seven priority areas, and it provides a clear structure for our wellness program,” says Kirsty Mortensen, People & Culture Business Partner at Trevelyan’s.

WorkWell helps businesses to implement a comprehensive workplace wellbeing programme, ensuring it is economical, relevant and tailored to their specific needs. Companies can also achieve recognised accreditation that reflects their commitment to employee health and wellbeing.
