The Priority One team recently toured the Rangiuru Business Park, a future high-quality industrial hub aimed at fostering growth for industry and businesses in the Bay of Plenty region. Strategically located alongside State Highway 2 and just 25 km from the Port of Tauranga, the park is poised to become a significant asset for our community.
Grace Hakaria, Marketing and Engagement Manager for Quayside Holdings Limited, along with Mark Hatchman, Development Manager, and John Shanahan, Project Manager, provided comprehensive updates on the park’s development. They discussed the progress of infrastructure development, emphasising that Stage 1, covering approximately 15 hectares, is currently available for sale. Construction contracts for Stage 1A are running on schedule, with the overall infrastructure for the first two stages well underway. Titles are expected to be released by mid-2025, with construction anticipated to be completed by January 2025.
The park’s strategic planning is evident in its target market focus, aiming to attract businesses in logistics, storage, manufacturing, processing, horticulture, service stations, convenience food stores, and community facilities such as gyms and cafes. This diverse range of potential occupants stresses the park’s versatility and capacity to cater to various industry needs.
Energy and sustainability initiatives were a key topic of discussion. The Priority One team explored the potential for geothermal energy and hydrogen use in future stages of the park’s development. Glenda Dufaur, Executive Assistant and Project Coordinator spoke about the wetland development, which involves planting 400,000 plants in partnership with Tapuika Iwi Authority. This initiative supports and nurtures the cultural acknowledgment for the whenua and the mana of community engagement. The wetland is designed to be a sustainable public space featuring walking and biking paths, aligning with the park’s broader environmental and cultural goals.
The Rangiuru Business Park is set to become a major industrial development in the Bay of Plenty, with significant investments in infrastructure and sustainability. The park’s strategic location provides proximity to the Port of Tauranga, the Golden Triangle, and the Eastern Bay of Plenty, and being situated within a growth corridor, provides access for skilled labour within a 15-minute commute. Through thoughtful development and strong community engagement, the Rangiuru Business Park promises to be an asset for the region well into the future.
