The Priority One Instep-promoted Holland Beckett Law (HOBEC) ‘Career in Law’ Presentation has backed up last year’s popularity by again running twice to meet demand from our local secondary students and their parents.

Partner Dean Thompson and Solicitor Stella Stretton took the reins this year and demystified, fascinated and amused those in attendance. From the journey of law education through university study, the key skills desired to make a good lawyer, the huge range of fields lawyers work in and – yes – the salary questions too, the HOBEC team provide a genuine ‘warts-and-all’ comprehensive presentation from the perspective of one of the Bay’s longest established law firms.

It was pleasing to witness the depth of engagement demonstrated by the quality of questions asked by the students and parents at this year’s events.

We at Instep would like to publicly thank the HOBEC team who put aside time out of their hectic schedules to provide these seminars every year. Hearing direct from local businesses as to what their world of work really looks like is incredibly valuable for our secondary students faced with big decisions to make on their future study and career paths.
